Outbreaks and Recalls

This page is a running list of outbreaks and recalls that have happened in our industrial food system.  My proposed solution to avoiding these outbreaks is to build a relationship with a farmer in your community and buy food from them.
  • August 2010- Salmonella outbreak, 500,000+ eggs recalled in 22 states
  • September 2011- Lysteria outbreak, Cantaloupes from Jensen farms in Colorado recalled, 4 dead
  • September 2011- E. Coli outbreak, Tyson Foods recalls over 100,000lbs of ground beef in Ohio
